Agree the Details Before Work Starts
Once contact details have been shared, use this guide to turn your first conversation into a clear plan. An accepted connection is not a confirmed job: the worker and employer must agree the work and its terms.
Prepare and Copy Your Project Discussion Summary
Discuss and Confirm the Work
- Confirm the profile skills, task capability, tools and availability.
- Explain the project scope, existing conditions and required finish.
- Agree who selects, buys, pays for and delivers materials.
- Confirm work dates, estimated duration and completion deadline.
- Agree the daily labour rate, total labour cost or total labour and materials price, including hours covered.
- Agree start and finish times, breaks and any additional work.
- Confirm transport both ways, tool hire and other extra costs.
- Agree payment milestones, deposits if any and approval for changes.
- Confirm any helpers before they attend.
Record the final terms in writing and ask the other party to confirm the same version.
Meet in a Busy Public Place
Choose a busy mall parking area near an entrance or security during daylight. Agree the meeting point, date and time. For collection, confirm the vehicle, destination and return arrangements beforehand. Use a WhatsApp meeting pin and temporary live-location sharing by mutual agreement. Tell a trusted person who you are meeting; nobody should feel pressured to enter a vehicle or proceed.
Welcoming a Worker into Your Home
Put valuables and private documents away. Be present or arrange for a trusted adult to be there. Explain permitted rooms, access arrangements, children, pets, toilets and drinking water. Walk through the work area and discuss hazards. Confirm helpers, inspect progress and settle changes before extra work starts. At departure, check the work, clean-up, tools and materials and close temporary access.
Protect Both Parties
A profile or reference does not guarantee safety. Treat each other respectfully and report concerns. For work at height, confirm competent planning, suitable access, fall protection and rescue arrangements before starting. An ordinary gable eyebolt or a rope across a roof must not be assumed to provide an assessed fall-protection system. For immediate danger, seek emergency assistance.
Prepare Your Project Discussion
Complete this together after connecting. Copy the summary into WhatsApp or print it, and ask the other person to confirm the details before work starts.
Your entries stay on this page only. They are not saved to your profile or sent to SebenzaX. Copy or print them before leaving or refreshing.
